Our two-theatre playhouse on B Street in Midtown is home to our Mainstage and Family Series, each created to house quality, intimate theatre for audiences year-round. Recognized as one of Northern California’s top professional theatres, we’ve produced increasingly than 100 new plays, 60 of which are world, national, West Coast, or regional premieres. Mainstage  Since 1991, B Street Theatre is where audiences turn to see the most popular and talked well-nigh plays of our day . Family Series The B Street Theatre’s Family Series is Northern California’s only fully professional, resident theatre for children. This minion and highly well-known series, brings the joy of live theatre to children through exciting, original plays and lively adaptations of archetype novels, stories and tales. Since its premiere season in 2003, the Family Series has presented over 50 professional plays for approximately 300,000 children and families in the Sacramento region. Education School Tour For 30 years, the mission of the B Street has been to provide entertainment to children while encouraging in them a love for the theatre and a specific appreciation for the art of playwriting. The school tour reaches approximately 200,000 children in 12 counties in Northern California. Our School Tour offers opportunities to children to submit plays for our yearly playwriting contest. A handful of plays are then selected to be performed by professional actors in two of our tours. Workshops & Residencies B Street’s Teaching Artists go to schools and other organizations leading playwriting workshops, after-school theatre programs, story telling and skills-building workshops for children and adults. Most of our playwriting workshops are cadre to B Street’s mission statement, which is to promote education and literacy, social interaction and cultural enrichment. InternVisitorThe B Street TheatreVicarialInternship is an intensive 10-month program that immerses young actors in every speciality of professional theatre. Interns are recent higher graduates seeking their first post-college, professional theatre experience. The InternVisitorwits provides four to eight talented young people with their first real “break” in the world of professional performing arts. In mart for training and professional performing experience, interns provide the visitor with much needed assistance in the areas of wardship as well as when and front of house operations. Classes for Kids & Adults The B Street Conservatory provides classes in technique and scene study to sultana actors discovering their unique talents. During the Summer months, the program focuses on young people month 8 – 17 with one-week and two-week zany sessions.
